Snow Day 2010

I think I enjoyed the snow just as much as the boys did.Well I was really liking it until the electricity went out. Not since 1984 has East Texas seen this much snow.

Garrett woke up that morning and said" Thank you for making it snow".

The boys had never played in snow before but they knew just what to do.

I think the snow was great and would like to have more of it.

When it is cold outside it is warm in my kitchen

Cold outside but warm in my kitchen.I love to cook but hate the clean up.lol But I guess that is normal.Well I am going to do better at sharing stuff on the blog so I thought I would start with some of my favorite recipes.

Here is a new favorite I got from Sarah Pitts. She is a dear church friend and this recipe was a huge hit here in The Allen House.

Ham and Cheese Calzone

Ingredients:

2 cans of Pillsbury pizza crust(thin crust)

1/2 cup fat free sour cream

4 tsp Dijon mustard(Walmart great value works fine:)

1 1/2 tsp dried oregano

1/4 tsp black pepper

6 oz lean deli sliced ham(diced)

4 oz low fat swiss cheese(diced)

Directions:

Preheat oven to 450

Spread dough out on greased baking sheet

Whisk together sour cream, mustard, oregano and pepper.Spread over dough.

Top one half of each with half ham and 1/2 cheese.Fold over and Coat with cooking spray.

Bake 2o mins until golden brown.Let stand 5 mins then divide into thirds.

This is a fast and healthy meal. Yields:6 serving

Weight Watcher Points:7 for a third of it.

Hope all enjoy this as much as we did. I will try to change the inside mix next week and see how it tastes.

With Friends Who Needs Enemies

Okay so this story is really more like a rant since I am not a writer. This story would better be told if I could shout it from a mountain top but since all I have is the blog I need to use more here it is...

Sunday afternoon around 2:30pm our new dog Mattie(who is huge)was found on our back porch bleeding from several what appeared to be clean cut wounds. She was so scared and shaking. Todd and I could not figure out if she was in a dog fight or what.I thought that maybe she got caught in barbed wire.Anyway Todd gave her a bath and cleaned her three wounds. She is a loving dog anyway but she was so sad lastnight. The bleeding stopped and the wounds looked ok this morning.

Well about 3:30 this afternoon I hear the dogs barking outside(yes we have four dogs)and I go out to see why and I see one of "my friends" husbands standing in my driveway. Not a good sign.

This is where I start getting mad.He starting telling me how sorry he was that he had to shoot my dog yesterday.Really!!! Sorry! I am not getting that from you mister!Well he said that Maddie jumped on his porch and growled at his son and scared him.Okay I totally see that if I did not know Maddie and she jumped on my porch and growled at me then yes maybe throw something at her but shoot her, REALLY? I have never seen her be ugly to anyone. And I think that maybe their dog who is not on a chain or in a yard (no collar and no shots unlike Maddie who HAS ON A FREAKING COLLAR)came over here like he does and she followed him home.He continued to tell me how sorry he was that this happened. Well then why did you do it?My guess is he thought that she would not make it home. But he ain't no Wyatt Erp and didn't kill her.

I understand that she needs to be in a fence and all but that is really not my point with why I am so pissed. What makes me mad is that these people say they are our friends yet no one called yesterday to tell me what had happened and when the "friend" called me this a.m. and talked for about an hour she forgot to tell me how my huge dog nearly ate her son. WHATEVER!!!

It is lack of respect for our friendship. Had someone told me this earlier then I would have not been so angry.I really think that the phone call this a.m. was to see if I was going to say"oh Maddie is dead or missing" but I bet she felt bad when I said that she was alive.

Well not sure if this friendship will survive the "shooting my dog" story. But like I said with such great friends who needs enemies!

Maddie is ok for now and is resting on the couch next to me while I fume and type this rant.

Give Kate a Break!

I am a mother of 3 boys. That in its self is wild but make the last two of them a set of fraternal twins. So with those statics I can safely say I am a busy mother of multiples:) Don't get me wrong it is a huge blessing to have these little boys but with multiples it poses a new set of challenges. A mother of one child has the freedom to know that only one little person at a time is trashing her house. I have two whirl winds. Now on to the Give Kate a break title. I LOVE watching Jon and Kate plus 8 on TLC. I have borrowed many of her clever ideas to help with Garrett and Wyatt. If see where she is snippy and bossy but with that many kids someone muct be in charge.

Give me a break on the Kate and Jon news just for one day! I say if you don't like her or her methods to madness THEN DON'T WATCH!The latest drama falls where she refused

one of her older children a drink on water before an interview. No big deal in my mind. I see that if she gave one child a drink she would have to do the same for the other 7. I think if one waits they all wait. When you start passing out that many drinks it will take up time and someone will still not be happy.Trust me. Call me mean, call me unfair but in my house all 3 would have to deal.

Everyone in the media is so quick judge how Kate and Jon parent their children, I think we all should look inside our own homes before we go peeping into others. I love the show and hope all the drama will settle down. These are just my ranting thoughts on Kate! I am sure there will be more post on this issue but for a while I will let it rest.
